CHURCH RENOVATION
and more

On May 16, time held its breath for me. It was decided that I was to be kept close by, with the aim of accepting a job offer to renovate a 130-year-old monument: a three-story church with over 200 stained-glass panels.

Just a day earlier, I was a student at the magnificent Academy of Fine Arts in the intellectual city of Kraków. The next day, after a long flight, I found myself in an „upside-down”, illogical situation in an amoral city on the East Coast of the U.S. – Atlantic City. A land where the body is rarely a temple for the soul. From that moment on, I became still. I was a child to whom belonged “all the harbors and the oceans”, until I got myself into a bizarre plot, a game from childhood. In this game, others command you to stop. And stop I must, remaining still until someone sets me free with the words: „It is finished.”

Objectively, the renovation project appeared impossible. However, I squinted my eyes and, despite the discomfort, I saw the final product worthy of my commitment. The image of a century-old church interior transforming, with my help, into a new vision of a place yet to be. The aroma of anticipation—the sense of what the space could become—felt more real than reality itself.

Today, I am aware of all the wrongs, difficulties, and costs associated with the decisions I made. This precious knowledge makes me incorruptible and ever wiser. “Success has many fathers, while failure is an orphan”. To any failure, I will embrace you as a mother and give you a new name: „Felix Culpa,” my Fortunate Fault. Glory to Christ.
